Update to Church with new guttering from Guttercrest
Case Study: St Ambrose Church, Widnes
A gothic-style Church built in 1881 has been updated with aluminium guttering and downpipes from Guttercrest.
The Church which cost a total of £5150 to build in 1881 is located in Widnes on a one-acre plot. Constructed in a traditional gothic style, the impressive building is oriented east to west with octagonal vestry, a nave and two side aisles, a chancel and an apse-shaped east end.
Over 150 metres of Guttercrest’s aluminium moulded ogee gutter has now replaced the tired-looking original cast iron guttering surrounding the Church roof. The traditional-looking moulded ogee shape is inspired by 19th Century cast iron gutters – but offers the benefits of aluminium, including being lightweight, easy to install and maintain and long-lasting.
The guttering was paired with over 42 metres of RW2T traditional aluminium downpipe (75mm) polyester powder coated in heritage black.
Guttercrest account manager Glen Beech, who lives in Widnes, said: “The building services company that approached me were looking for something really authentic to do the building justice, at the same time it was important to them that the products were going to be lightweight, durable and resistant to weathering. Our aluminium moulded ogee guttering combined with traditional downpipe was the perfect choice.
“The new guttering has really enhanced the aesthetics of the Church and will continue to do so for years to come.”
